Nancy Famosa Super Lot

3

I recently won a Nancy Famosa super lot on eBay. It arrived today. I am so thrilled! After combing through everything, I have identified everything except a couple of pieces. Here's what I got:
A bird's eye view of the lot

En El Jardin pieces                                                      De Tarde is the red one, the blue one is identical                                                                                      but I am not sure what it is

En Las Carreras and Noche De Estreno

Lluvia

En la universidad and equipo positizos
Pieces from En Primavera and the outfit Con Los Amigos

And the piece I am most excited about, the Presentacion dress! It is in great condition!

Nancy has sweet brown eyes!

There are two blue pieces whose name I don't know. One is a knitted overalls type thing, and the other is the blue dress that is just like De Tarde, only it's blue. I'm going to have to do so more research to figure out what these pieces are. The outfits are in really great shape, just need a light cleaning. Nancy herself is going to require a little more heavy duty cleaning, but I'm up for that task tomorrow night. I can't wait to take a picture with my two older Nancy dolls together!

Lesly Famosa: La Hermanita de Nancy

0

Once upon a time, I ordered all my Nancy dolls from El Corte Ingles in Spain, but they discontinued shipping service to the United States. I went for quite awhile without getting any new Nancy dolls. Nothing puts a damper on collecting like an impossible situation where you cannot buy what you want. The other day, I decided to cruise over to El Corte to see what was up with them. And guess what? They are shipping to the US again! Woo hoo! There is a difference now. In the good ole' days, I could order pretty much however many Nancy dolls I wanted for one flat shipping cost. Now, there is a limit of 3 kilos for 40 Euros. It's not as good as it was before, but it's not terrible. As soon as I found out they were shipping, I just had to place a "test order". I ordered two Lesly Famosa Communion dolls, one for me, and one for a friend. They arrived from DHL within one week, which was a lot faster than the previous orders I had placed. I checked their weight, and they were about 1.5 kilos. The Nancys will be heavier, so I'm thinking I will probably be able to order Nancy dolls in the future 2 at a time.
My sweet Lesly

I was really happy to finally get a new Lesly. I have an older Lesly, but I bought her out of desperation to have one (because she was for sale here in the US), and she is in really terrible condition. Her hair is a nightmare that I don't even know how to begin to fix.
My Two Leslys

My new Lesly does have a few flaws. First off, although this isn't inherently a flaw, she is made in China. That was disappointing. I have found consistently that the Nancy dolls made in Spain are of much superior quality from everything from their plastic to their clothes to their hair. This Lesly is no exception, and the most notable issue she has is that her shoes are way too big. They will not stay on her feet. When I pick her up, the shoes just fall right off. I think I will be able to get her some tights or socks and that will fix the problem, but they should be a little snugger than they are. Her legs are also a little unevenly sized, which is not atypical for the other Nancys I have. Otherwise, I really love her and she's such a cutie. I'm so glad I finally got the opportunity to add her to my collection.

For those that don't know her, Lesly is Nancy's little sister, and she's about 12 inches tall. Here's a photo of her with some other dolls so you can get an idea of size:
Little Darling Elsa, Lola from Berdine Creedy, Lesly, and Hearts for Hearts Tipi

Lesly will definitely need some new clothes, because I'm not a huge fan of the communion look. It looks like she may be able to share with some other dolls, but I haven't had the opportunity to have a fashion show yet.

If you're on the fence about Lesly, I would say you should have one if you are a Nancy collector. Even though the quality isn't perfect, this is a good way to get a nice, clean Lesly doll to add to your collection.
How can you resist this sweet little face?

My Famosa Family Is Complete!

0

My Famosa family is finally complete with the addition of Lesly!
Little Lesly

Lesly is Nancy's little sister, and stands about 13 inches tall. She was produced with multiple outfits and looks, just like Nancy. Mine, as you can see, has short, curly blonde hair, and freckles. The face paint on my Lesly is sadly in poor shape, but as it took me so long to find a Lesly that doesn't both me so much.

Close up of her face

It seems my Lesly also suffers from production issues, as one leg is shorter than the other! Believe it or not, it actually helps her stand. I just keep her posed in a walking position, with one foot in front of the other.

I'm very glad to have my entire Famosa family now!

Spring Break!

4

Spring break is finally here!  I did lots of fun stuff to celebrate, but most notably, I met a new friend and her gorgeous Nancy doll.  She also made my Nancy a matching outfit, which you can see below in the picture.  The blue trim looks sooooo good with the color of Nancy's eyes.  I just love it.  It is really, really well made, and she even has a tag inside.  Please visit her Etsy Shop and check out all her custom creations.
This is the photo I submitted for the Nancy Contest.

The Famosa Folks have been running a contest for 60's themed photos of Nancy dolls.  This is the photo I submitted, with the caption, "First there was Nancy, then there was a man on the moon..." (in Spanish, of course).  You can see my little Treasure wearing the new outfit that Diana made.  Just gorgeous!  My piernas flexibles is wearing a printed dress that I hastily (and wrecklessly) stitched together, and Francie is wearing a BFC Ink dress.  The girls are supposed to be watching the moon landing on tv.  I doubt very seriously that I will win, as there are lots of good other photos, but if I do, I sure hope I can find someone in Spain to ship the prize to.  That will be Afner's job.

Before all that fun stuff happened though, Afner and I took a trip thrifting through Charlotte.  I brought Nancy along and took some fun photos.  Here they are:

I hope you've enjoyed these photos.  We certainly enjoyed taking them.  Stay tuned for news to come about new AG goodies!

The Lounge

5

After several weeks of being spoiled by warm, southern weekends, this weekend was a total drag.  It was cold, and VERY rainy all weekend.  The Famosa Girls spent a lot of time in their new lounge, just chatting and doing girl things!
The girls, enjoying their new lounge area.

Lately, the topic has been when their new sister to arrive.  Then, much to their surprise, Francie received a phone call from her!
"Hello?"

Their new sister (who is yet to be named) called to say that she would be leaving Spain on April 15th to come to her new home in South Carolina!  She also told the girls that she would be bringing a friend with her to the States.  Now the girls REALLY had something to talk about.  They were so excited, they giggled and played games all afternoon.  As it started to get dark, the girls decided they wanted to try on all their new outfits that their mom had bought them earlier that day.

Spring dress on the left, formal dress in the middle, and swimsuit at the end.

The lounge has a pink beanbag chair on the far left, a striped chair, a table with lamp, phone, and clock, a purple beanbag chair, and an orange beanbag chair.  All the furniture was bought at Walmart.

All of the outfits the girls are featured in are BFC Ink outfits.  And I have good news!  There were extra outfits, so I grabbed them.  If anyone is interested, I would like to trade or sell the outfits.  I would like to trade for other Nancy outfits or things, or, if I am selling, they would be $20 to the US which includes shipping, or $30 Internationally, which includes shipping. Take a look at the flip book and you will see all the featured outfits that I have available!

$5 Nancy Famosa

11

I got lucky and found a $5 Nancy doll at Goodwill!  This is my second Nancy from Goodwill.  I'm really lucky that Americans don't know about or like Nancy, because I bought both Nancys for under $10.  When I got her, the spring inside her body was stretched VERY badly and the poor girl was flopping all over the place.

See how she just flops over?  Well, I immediately went to Lowe's and bought a new spring.  But the new spring was too tight and her head kept popping off!  There was a little wire inside the body which held the head on tight.  I cut apart a metal clothes hanger and wrapped it around the piece that goes into her head to serve as an anchor...and ta da!

Here she is, able to stand up and hold her head up high!

Here is a close-up of her pretty face.  I think she needs some lip paint touch up.  She has a little cupid's bow rub.

She came in this awful blue dress.  I detest it.  I'm working on my sewing skills, so I will try to make her a new, cuter outfit soon.

I'm not sure about what Nancy she is, or what year, or anything like that, because I'm new to Nancy dolls, but I do know she is just adorable :)

Nancy Famosa

5

For awhile, I have been wanting a Nancy Famosa doll.  Famosa is a Spanish company, and if you do a google search for Nancy Famosa, she has tons of pages dedicated to her.  For good reason:  Nancy is very pretty, and has lots of cute clothes and accessories.

To my luck and amazement, I discovered a Nancy doll at Goodwill.
I'm not sure if she's actually Nancy, she may be Lesly or some other doll.  Her dress is tagged Munecas Famosa 2000, Made in Spain.  She has freckles, a mess of red hair, and her legs are made of foam covered in a green sparkly material.

Look at her adorable face

I was going to work on her more, but I decided to sell her.  She is so cute, and I really want to keep her, but with my upcoming trip to Costa Rica, I could really use the extra cash.  I currently have her listed on eBay, and she already has many watchers and several bids.  This leaves me to believe she may be a rare doll, which could also be true because I have been unable to find any information about her on the internet.

At any rate, I wanted to give her a little dedication here in this blog, because I think she deserves it :)
