Fashion Week (Well, Sort Of)

Since my last post, I have some new acquisitions that I wanted to share.  I'm very excited!  There were quite a few Nancy items posted on US eBay in the past few weeks, and I was lucky enough to win some.

I think this Buy It Now beauty is a Nancy Fiesta.  I found her on US eBay for a very attractive BIN price, and she was listed with several other dolls, so I got quite the bargain as I resold the others.  She was very dirty, but I cleaned her and her hair is in great condition.  The shoes she's wearing are Juanita Perez shoes.

Vintage Flores dress.  I just love this dress in person, it looks so good on her!

Vintage Tennis outfit.  The tennis racquet has a red string on the back that looks like the original string it was tied into the package with, but I'm not sure so I haven't removed it.  Doesn't she look sporty?

I found this little cutie at a local thrift store.  It's funny because I had wanted a Barriguitas doll but did not want to pay the shipping from Europe, then I found one!

So this post was more to brag than anything, but here it is!

Costa Rica + Munecas

I am just writing a quick update here from Costa Rica.  After the first day in Costa Rica, my boyfriend told me he had a surprise for me.  He told me to close my eyes, and he handed me a bag.  I opened my eyes and looked inside and this is what it was:

A new Juanita Perez!!  Isn't he the best boyfriend ever?!!  He had a friend in Mexico City go to 3 different Palacio de Hierra stores to find a Juanita Perez that did not have blue eyes.  You probably can't tell from the picture, but this sweet girl has GRAY eyes.  Very pretty, and very different :)

Of course, I brought Juanita, along with Kirsten, with us to Playa Hermosa.  Here are some photos of the girls playing at the beach, taken from a cell phone camera:

Anita Perez

After lurking around some other doll collecting groups, I discovered the Anita Perez doll.  I thought she was just beautiful!  She is also the older sister of Juanita Perez. 

This is how I received my doll from Mexico.  As you can see, the vinyl of her face has faded.  And her dress sure wasn't winning any beauty pagents.  I cleaned her up, did the best I could with her wooly hair, and redressed her in an outfit I bought from Ms. Dee on eBay.  Just look at her now:

This doll was made in the 1960's.  The Juanita Perez company later changed the face mold in the 70's, to give her a softer, more teenage-like apperance.  I, however, prefer this face mold.

Scratch One Off The Wishlist :)

This week, I received my Juanita Perez dolls from Mexico.  These are the dolls that are currently being produced, not the vintage versions.  They are very pretty dolls.  They have a huge mass of rooted hair which is really heavy, and the vinyl seems heavier, too.  I also received 2 extra dresses and some accessories to go with the dolls.

My Top 10 Wishlist

So how could somebody with so many dolls possibly want more, you ask? Well, here is a sampling of dolls that I do not currently own, but would like to own :)

1. Black Tressy doll. This is a very hard to find doll from the Crissy family. She was a Sears exclusive doll. The last one I saw sell on eBay sold for $480. Yeah. So maybe in 10 years I'll have one.

2. Black Cinnamon doll. This doll is also a little harder to come by from the Crissy family. In the past two months, I saw one sell on eBay for $200, and one sold for $95 (you can see both of these dolls at www.crissyandbeth.com)

3. Juanita Perez doll from Mexico. She reminds me a lot of the American Girl dolls, but the Mexican version. She is very cute and vinyl, and I'm actually working on getting her now. The language barrier is a little difficult, but I have some friends helping me out :) You can see her at www.juanitaperez.com.mx

4. The old Juanita Perez doll from Mexico. She was made in the 70's, and I'd like to have the older version of her as well. I have only seen one for sale since I started looking, and it was on MercadoLibre. It had already sold, and for only $20 :( Oh well, if they made one, they made a hundred.

5. Kirsten Larsen's entire Pleasant Company collection. I have several of her dresses, but nowhere near a complete collection. She was always my favorite, so I feel like I should complete her.

6. Any old Jumeau doll. They are just incredible. Also incredibly expensive.

7. The #1 Barbie. Need I say more?

8. The Engel-Puppen Alice in Wonderland doll from Epcot--Germany. She is just too cute. She's also about $180, which is more than I'm generally willing to part with in one place when I'm at Disney World.

9. Cathie de Bella doll from France. She is a really pretty doll made in France in the 70's and maybe 80's (I haven't done a lot of research about her). She sells on French eBay from anywhere around $14 USD to $100 USD. I have been watching them a lot, and am just waiting for the right auction price and shipping price combo. For some reason, it costs a LOT to ship things from France.

10. A Kenner Blythe doll. They have become very popular (and very expensive) in the past few years, and it's just a doll I'd like to have an example of in my collection.

Eventually, I will have all of these dolls. I might be 40 years old, but they will be mine :)
